Olympic Stadium

Olympic Stadium: is a stadium for celebrating the National Game and for alliance game played with other countries.

It was designed by Vann Molyvann, the well-known Khmer architecture, and taking one year for establish, started from 1963 to 1964. The capacity of the stadium could contain 50,000 seats, but it can be more 80,000 seats. The stadium designing focus on air enough and light inside. Moreover it was to be digging the stadium the ground up 500,000 cubic meters.

Gold of building the stadium for Southeast Asian Peninsular Games (Now this Game change to Sea Game), but it was cancelled by uncomfortable of Cambodian's policy. In 1966, the stadium was held FIFA World Cup Game between North Korea and Australia. During the Khmer Rouge era, the stadium was used as the prison and execution site for officials of Khmer Republic leading by the former Lon Nol. For decades ago, the stadium was repaired by Taiwan of Yuanta Group firm in 2000.
